"We recently hired Sea Horse General Contractors to build a dock at our residence in Tiger Point. Their prices were competitive and the quality of their work was excellent. They completed the job in a timely manner and our association with them has been a pleasant one from start to finish. We highly recommend Sea Horse to anyone considering a marine construction project"

"We have had a long association with Mr. Nord and his company. Sea Horse General Contractors. They installed the dock and sea wall at my own home as well as the docks and sea walls of several of our neighbors. All of us have been more than pleased with the work they have done for us and feel certain that you could not select a better company to complete your project."

- Roy G.

"After consulting with several marine construction companies, we selected Sea Horse General Contractors. We were impressed with their professional and logical approach to the design and permitting phase of our project. During the construction phase, we realized we had made a good decision by selecting Sea Horse. Even though they encoutered numerous logistical and natural obstacles beyond their control, the job always continued to progress in a steady and orderly fashion. We have been very pelased with Sea Horse's performance on this project and would recommend them highly to anyone needing a quality construction team."

How to Hire a Marine Contractor

Sea Horse General Contractors, Inc. carries all proper licensing & Insurance as stated below

  1. Verify the License of the contractor you are considering.
  2. Our license number is RG0030696
  1. Check to see if the company is licensed and is current with their license
  2. Keep in mind that the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation have issued numerous cease and desist orders on marine related projects by unlicensed contractors over the last few months in NW Florida. Avoid the frustration (and potential financial loss) of dealing with unlicensed contractors.

3. Verify the Insurance of the Contractor you are considering.

  1. Ask for an insurance certificate and verify that it has General Liability insurance AND Workman's Compensation insurance under code 6006F for USL&H and the Jones Act (if they plan to use a barge for construction).
  2. Verify that your name and address are on the insurance certificate and that their company's name (not some other contractor's name) is the holder of the insurance.
  3. If your contractor does not carry the insurance, by law YOU are required to carry the insurance for them while they are working on your project. Know who is working in your back yard. Perform a quick Santa Rosa County public record search on the owner and / or company to see if you really want them working in your back yard. You can also perform searches in Escambia County.
