How to Hire a Marine Contractor
Sea Horse General Contractors, Inc. carries all proper licensing & Insurance as stated below
- Verify the License of the contractor you are considering.
- Our license number is RG0030696
- Check to see if the company is licensed and is current with their license
- Keep in mind that the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation have issued numerous cease and desist orders on marine related projects by unlicensed contractors over the last few months in NW Florida. Avoid the frustration (and potential financial loss) of dealing with unlicensed contractors.Â
3. Verify the Insurance of the Contractor you are considering.
- Ask for an insurance certificate and verify that it has General Liability insurance AND Workman's Compensation insurance under code 6006F for USL&H and the Jones Act (if they plan to use a barge for construction).Â
- Verify that your name and address are on the insurance certificate and that their company's name (not some other contractor's name) is the holder of the insurance.  Â
- If your contractor does not carry the insurance, by law YOU are required to carry the insurance for them while they are working on your project. Know who is working in your back yard. Perform a quick Santa Rosa County public record search on the owner and / or company to see if you really want them working in your back yard. You can also perform searches in Escambia County.
